Caldera enables dynamic, scalable blockchain experiences. Currently, dapps that are deployed to general-purpose blockchain compete with thousands of other applications for space on the network — this can lead to congestion and high fees or even network outages.

Staff Backend Engineer

We’re looking for an incredible staff engineer to help us build the future of blockchain scalability.

As a Staff Backend Engineer at Caldera, you will:

Architect and develop backend systems to ensure the smooth operation of Caldera’s blockchains
Build secure and scalable crypto-native systems on EVM blockchains ie indexers or relayers
Take ownership of new features from conception through to deployment for Caldera’s self-serve infrastructure platform
Take the lead on data model design, ensuring that databases are optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability
Engage in performance tuning and optimization efforts, profiling systems then reducing latency + increasing throughput
Be a source of technical leadership and mentorship; for example, providing high-quality feedback and code reviews for junior engineers

You might be a fit for this role if you...

Have 4+ years of engineering experience
Have experience writing backend services in Go or Typescript
Have experience designing, building, and maintaining robust APIs
Have a strong ability to design efficient and scalable data models.
Strong background with cloud computing platforms, especially AWS
Keen eye for security, solid understanding of threat modeling and secure system architecture

Bonus points if you...

Have experience with modern infrastructure; containerization, infrastructure as code, kubernetes
Are familiar with how blockchains like Ethereum or Bitcoin work under the hood
Are up-to-date with Ethereum scaling solutions such as sidechains or rollups
Have an understanding of cryptography primitives, such as hash functions or digital signatures
Have built Ethereum “dapps” before
