Scout AI

Intro

Scout AI is a new hiring platform that connects software engineers to opportunities with world-class companies. On Scout, you get a more relevant and growthful interviewing experience, you receive feedback on your performance, and you also get end-to-end support to improve your chances of getting hired.

If you perform well on the Scout interview, you become eligible for opportunities with all companies in the Scout network (only complete the interview once).

This role is with our partner company that is actively hiring:
Caldera

About the company

Caldera enables dynamic, scalable blockchain experiences. Currently, dapps that are deployed to general-purpose blockchains compete with thousands of other applications for space on the network — this can lead to congestion and high fees or even network outages.

That’s where we come in. We’re building software that makes it easy for the most innovative blockchain applications to launch their own ultra-performant blockchains (rollups), enabling applications to own their ecosystem, scale to millions of users, and provide a superior user experience to their players.

We’re backed by some of the best investors in the valley and offer competitive pay, an equity grant in the company, and full benefits! Our team is primarily located in San Francisco, and work in-person from the Financial District.

Product Values

In order to successfully ship deliverables that make our customers and teammates happy, we build with the following themes in mind:

🎨 Love the Craft

Our deliverables always reach an audience. Whether it’s a high-value customer or your fellow teammates, you should be proud that your work is having an impact on others and hold yourself and others to a high standard.

🏗️ Build Foundations

We believe you can ship fast with quality and the way to do that is with strong foundations. This means that we do not compromise on user or developer experience for the sake of speed. Instead we plan ahead, set realistic goals, and build with the future in mind.

🏆 Win Together

Ultimately, we are all on the same team and are all striving towards the same goal. We work together to make things happen and we don’t quit.

The Role

Firstly, it is not a requirement that you have experience with blockchain. However, you should be interested to learn more about the space and prepared to dive deep into solving blockchain problems at the product level. If you’re curious what this entails, please apply and ask!

As a Backend Engineer at Caldera, you will:

  • Architect and develop backend systems to ensure the smooth operation of Caldera’s blockchains
  • Build secure and scalable crypto-native systems on EVM blockchains ie indexers or relayers
  • Take ownership of new features from conception through to deployment for Caldera’s self-serve infrastructure platform
  • Take the lead on data model design, ensuring that databases are optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Engage in performance tuning and optimization efforts, profiling systems then reducing latency + increasing throughput
  • Be a source of technical leadership and mentorship; for example, providing high-quality feedback and code reviews for junior engineers

You might be a fit for this role if you...

  • Have 4+ years of engineering experience
  • Have experience writing backend services in Go or Typescript
  • Have experience designing, building, and maintaining robust APIs
  • Have a strong ability to design efficient and scalable data models.
  • Strong background with cloud computing platforms, especially AWS
  • Keen eye for security, solid understanding of threat modeling and secure system architecture

Bonus points if you...

  • Have experience with modern infrastructure; containerization, infrastructure as code, kubernetes
  • Are familiar with how blockchains like Ethereum or Bitcoin work under the hood
  • Are up-to-date with Ethereum scaling solutions such as sidechains or rollups
  • Have an understanding of cryptography primitives, such as hash functions or digital signatures
  • Have built Ethereum “dapps” before
